I did meet with Vaughn last week and it helped tremendously, giving me more direction on what my plans are in the future. I had initailly been contemplating interning with the local newspaper but with his opinion I have decided against this.
Even though it's not my ultimate goal (photoj) I thought it might open the specturm of my knowledge base but V pointed out that the papers are diffusing as we speak. My goal is to TEACH and continue with grad school.
Soooooo I'm set for graduation Fall of 2012 and I will use this class to work on the portfolio I will submit to get into the photo grad prgm @ A&M. I will also use my internship to intern with a college professor, possibly Paul Bryan.
In the meantime as I said I will be working on my outside portfolio outside of my portrait business. I do love to shoot people and I do have a growing business in Paris that's been going since 2008 but that will not be what I submit to get me into grad school. So why not use this opportunity and V's cc to help?!
I am still contemplating my series or just what I want to shoot. I haven't had alot of time to actually shoot what I want in some time. And I feel like I can't just make that decision over the weekend since I met and talked with Vaughn.
But I will continue to research new contemporary photographers! Milano gave us a name of a grad student who is based out of Texas to check out. It was a perfect start to see what others are shooting and what their personal projects mean to them. Within my research, I hope to figure out what it is that interests me. I love textures but as V said, I have to come up with some kind of project with depth, meaning, and inspiration!
My charge is to continue to do this throughout the semester! I will have my one man show @ the local coffee shop here in Paris and it will probably be in Dec so that I have time to start this new project. I'm excited about the things to come.
Since I already have a business my obvious goal after graduation is to get into grad school. I want my masters and have since I started back to college 4yrs ago. I hope to teach some day and I hope it's all in God's time!
Here are a few images I did over the summer........
